Remembered Today:

Ranks on CWGC

I was looking at NA MIC's for someone and in one case a soldier listed as Sergt on CWGC had Sergt and Captain on his MIC, on a 2nd one, a Soldier listed as Private on CWGC had Pte and Sergt on his MIC.

Did the CWGC not list a higher rank if it was temporary?

I don't think so, buried near Loos is Captain Phillip Wainman who was a Brevet Major at the time of his death, but his rank is recorded on his headstone as Captain.
