dfaulder Posted 10 October , 2009 Share Posted 10 October , 2009 Does anyone have an indication of the area covered by Tyne Garrison (a map or better still a Garrison History), plus any indication of how it was organised? I am anticipating that it might match the "Tyne" Shipping Forecast Area, that is with a "Forth" Garrison to the North and a "Humber" Garrison to the South? Dave http://www.warpath.orbat.com/misc_units/br...risons.htm#tyne Goes quite a long way! Confirms that the next Garrison north is "Forth", so I would guess that the England Scotland border is the northern edge of the Tyne Garrison area. On the Southern Edge instead of Humber there is "Tees Garrison". Not sure where the border would be. For instance is Hartlepool (North bank of the Tees Estuary), in the Tees Garrison area, or because it was in Co Durham, was in the Tyne Area (given that Sunderland - also Co Durham - was in the Tyne Garrison area)? Nine battalions, so presumably "Garrison Headquarters" must have been a bit like a cross between a brigade and divisional headquarters.
