Joris Ryckeboer Posted 27 April , 2004 Author Share Posted 27 April , 2004 We start our tour with Lt Anthony George Atwood Morris. KIA Oct. 13 1914 at Meteren. http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/casualty_...casualty=273710 http://www.westernfrontassociation.com/the...uals/morris.htm The King's Own Royal Lancashire Regiment moved that day in the direction of the Meteren Church. In the fight, Lt Atwood Morris was Killed In Action on the same spot he's actually buried. After the war, his parents could let him stay buried there. In 1920, they buyed that piece of ground from the owner-farmer. They made a monument with an beautiful clock, made by famous Smith from London. On 9 may 1965, it was given to Meteren by Jack Arthur Atwood Morris, his brother. It's still a peacefull place, gardenend by Meteren. Well hidden, I think it is a remarkable place. Guest Brummy Posted 27 April , 2004 Share Posted 27 April , 2004 Hi Joris, Thanks for postiing the photographs. I visited Redmonds Grave today and hope to get to Meteren sometime in the next couple of weeks. I wish I could post some pictures myself but unfortunately my scanner is kaput and I have no digital camera. Keep up the good work, Brum
