Personally, I find the Canadian Memorial Cross a more fitting memorial. RT:- Could there have been a huge stockpile of copper etc to use up after the war? Perhaps because the plaque was for death only. I sensed such a feeling from accounts of the design of the plaque but I may be quite wrong about it.
