edwin astill Posted 5 October , 2009 Share Posted 5 October , 2009 Recently attended an open day at Marlborough Grammar School (my old school) prior to its demolition. Asked about the memorial, and was pleased to hear that it was to be put up in the school now under construction. Also spoke to the head of history who tells me that he does not teach the 'Lions and donkeys' line. spoons Posted 5 October , 2009 Share Posted 5 October , 2009 always good to hear good news about a memorial. Have you considered mailing UKNIWM to tell them about the change of location? I don't think they even have this memorial listed. \Spoons

mbriscoe Posted 23 February , 2022 Share Posted 23 February , 2022 Just transcribing for the IWM WMR from a very poor quality image and found this transcription. Geoffrey L Broome is BROOKE Not convinced about BUNCE, looks more BRUCE, there is an Australian who fits, perhaps he came from the Marlborough area. Between MAISEY and ROBBINS is Guy (?) NOTLEY - I think the initial is "E" Not sure what the MESPOTAMIA refers to as no names? MB
edwin astill Posted 24 February , 2022 Author Share Posted 24 February , 2022 Having adjusted a photo as best I can I see that Bunce is actually BENCE. Here is a photo. Edwin
mbriscoe Posted 24 February , 2022 Share Posted 24 February , 2022 Thanks, that's a lot clearer, I have corrected the WMR. You go cross-eyed trying to read poor quality images!
