Advice anyone

I've been researching a great uncle KIA 1/07/16. I've done the medal index card, census, some war diaries and CWG with mixed results. I am planning a trip to my home town library in a few weeks to se if I can find anything like obituary or report of his death, and maybe the exact site of death etc. Would any of you know how long after a death would it be reported in the local paper? what I want to do is try to save time scrolling through pages and pages of back issues.

Info I already have is

Pte Edward Kennedy,

2/5 Lancs Fusiliers

KIA 01/07/16

Buried Sucrerie Military Cemetary

Collincamps.

Sometimes reports of casualties appeared in the local papers within a week or so, and other times it could be months, years or even never.

In many cases it depends upon whether a body was recovered, whether anyone else from the locality saw him die (and so the news beat official channels), etc, etc...

His death was reported in the Times casualty list of Monday, July 24th 1916 so I assume local papers would be similar?
