Remembered Today:

Haig`s grave

Recommended Posts

On a recent string I mentioned Haig`s gravestone at Dryburgh Abbey as being of a rich red stone with 4 or 5 regimental crests. I recall that during my visit the caretaker told us that the grave had been for many years the object of vandalism from people who deemed him responsible for unwarranted deaths and suffering. By the time of my visit, in the 80s, they seem to have subsided. Can any local members confirm or otherwise? Phil B

Hi Phil,

I'm no local by any stretch of the imagination but I was there in May of 2002 and there was no evidence of vandalism.

Take care,

Neil
