The West Yorkshire Coalowners Association kept minute books on board meetings throughout the war. They are available through Leeds University Library Special Collections. They detail much information about strikes, pit-props, pay & conditions, rescue stations etc. Those wishing to avoid the Derby Scheme would have gone before the local board and very often details appear in local newspapers.
