4thGordons Posted 24 September , 2009 Share Posted 24 September , 2009 I just got hold of an interesting SMLE variant which has the following Stock marking disc on it. It looks to me to be marked to the 2nd Bn Lincolnshire Regiment and dated Feb 1922 ( I think the 2/Lincs were in India from 1919-1924) There is a crossed out rack number and another number (112) but I am at rather a loss on the KA - any suggestions? The rifle is what is known as an SMLE MkI** IP (IP= India Pattern), it is a less common variant but probably really only of interest to those of us firmly wrapped in our Enfield anoraks These IP rifles were conversions of early rifles (in this case a 1903 BSA MkI*) to MkIII standard by the Ishapore arsenal - in this case in 1916. With the exception of the markings it is identical to a MkIII. Chris
