TTHG Posted 17 September , 2009 Share Posted 17 September , 2009 I am investigating the effects of the Great War on a small Durham village. Albert Wilson Fishburn of the Royal Garrrison Artillery and the Labour Corps was given an Honourable Discharge. His medal roll card gives his SWB list number as L.C/4962. Where do I find out what this means? I'd be grateful for any help!
archangel9 Posted 17 September , 2009 Share Posted 17 September , 2009 Hi TTHG, It means his SWB is recorded here - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalog...;accessmethod=5 In series - WO 329/3202 Labour Corps (Nottingham) LC 4901-5300. The SWB rolls are not on line but you can order the page and up to 10 pages using the "Request this" link for £8.50. Give the page number - 4962 and his details. The SWB roll will typically give you name, rank, number, regiment, Bn., enlistment date, discharge date, reason for discharge and whether your man served over seas.
