Remembered Today:

Shoulder title changes?

I've been following Andrew Upton's 2nd Seaforth kit topic and noticed that the correct shoulder title for the war time period should read "Seaforth," not "Seaforths," which as noted is post-1922.

I was browsing eBay and noticed titles for the Gordons, both with and without the "S." So, my question is: Did most shoulder titles change from the singular to the plural tense after 1922? Besides confounding collectors eighty-plus years later, what was the purpose of the change?

From R. A. Westlake's book, (Edit. 1980)

Gordon became Gordons in 1922

It is the same for Cameron.

There is no Seaforth with S

No mention in Westlake's book, reason I said where I have found my information.

I didn't say that it never exist and only gave that book's information.

Interesting, so did the Canadians wear a different style CAMERON as well or are they intercangeable?

Nothey weren't; the Canadian Camerons are the "Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa" and their title was a curved (ends downwards) CAMERONS over a straight OTTAWA
