Looks like machine gun corps to me

He is wearing a 1903 bandolier and standard uniform for someone in a mounted role. It is a bit hard to see but he appears to have breeches rather than trousers on (again suggests mounted), no waistbelt (again mounted) and the stick he is holding may well be a crop rather than a swagger stick. He has a braided lanyard over his left shoulder, probably with a clasp knife attached and held in his left breast pocket.

Yes - MGC Cavalry.

Not necessarily - the riding breeches etc only mean he was on mounted duties, such as was found in transport sections and similar of all regiments, not just cavalry regiments.
