Chris_Baker Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 It may not be important for your purpse but Robert Morris was in temporary command of the 1st South Staffords as the actual CO, Lt Col Robert Montomery Ovens, was away on leave. bmac Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 Chris. Thanks for the confirmation. I originally had Morris but someone 'in another place' brought up the name of Ovens. Odd time to be on leave though (compassionate grounds perhaps). Bill
bmac Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 There is some uncertainty over the 11th and 12th East Yorkshires. David Bilton in 'Hull Pals' has them as 11th E Yorks Lt Col Beauchamp St Clair Ford and 12th E Yorks Lt Col Harold Robinson Pease whereas I have no-one for the 12th and Maj Hugh Robinson Pease for the 11th. Can anyone confirm?
