rayoung74 Posted 23 August , 2009 Share Posted 23 August , 2009 Would Regimental , Divisional, Brigade and Army flashes (badges call them what you will) all have been worn on service dress in 1916-1918? I know that regimental identifying badges didn't make there first appearance until 1916. It just seems like a lot of badges to be wearing on your jacket. Thanks in advance R
armourersergeant Posted 24 August , 2009 Share Posted 24 August , 2009 Not an expert here but.. Certainly not all of the above. I have never seen an example of a Private etc wearing an army/corps badge. at most he may have had an identification symbol in a shape and colour to denote his company/battalion and brigade within a division and he may have worn his divisional symbol on his unifrom or helmet. In my case, with 21st division, I see little evidence of the 21 symbol being worn by its soldiers. I stand to be corrected of course, as I usually am. Can I suggest you do a search on this forum as this will have been discussed previously and may answer your question better than I can.
