Ozgur,

Thank you very much for the map! A friend of mine on another forum provided this from the book, The Arms of Krupp (1587 - 1968) by William Manchester.

Krupp for the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibit produced a 60-ton naval gun which fired 1/2 ton shells through a 35.5 cm muzzle. Krupp was hoping to sell the gun to the U.S., but there were no buyers so he gave the cannon as a publicity stunt to the Sultan of Turkey. Krupp found that in the past by giving away some of his products the country given them would be so impressed that they in turn would buy Krupp products. The piece was known as "Krupp's killing machine". Turkey in turn used the cannon as a coastal artillery gun. Also Krupp's publicity stunt worked because Turkey following this gift did in deed purchase Krupp artillery which was put to use not only in WWI, but also in the Russo-Turkish War.

I guess this reveals the mystery a bit.

Regards

Kaan
