cathy1969 Posted 12 August , 2009 Share Posted 12 August , 2009 Hi, My GG Uncle 3276 PTE Benjamin Biggs was in the Boer War, I know this as I have his war diary but I know nothing else. I was wondering if he was in WW1 but as yet can not find any MIC. He was born in 1975 in Carbey Lincolnshire & he died in 1926 in Surrey. Any info would be great no matter how small. Thanks in advance for any help. Cathy

Hi Kathy, ..obvioulsy you meant 1875... ;-) Do his war diaries give any indication of his Battery, Regiment, Battallion etc? My Gt uncle was with the 44th but his battery was sent to SA from India and thus records are harder to find. I see from Free BMD he was born in the March Quarter of 1875 so he likely to have enlisted after 1891. Colin
ColinY43 Posted 12 August , 2009 Share Posted 12 August , 2009 Kathy, Find My Past suggests it has a recod of a B Biggs who died in the 1899-1902 period of the Boer War and Ancestry seems to know your uncle but suggests Beggs as an alt name? There was also a benjamin Biggs who died in Guildford who was within a year of your uncles age at the time. Colin

Colin I have my GG Uncles death register, he was registered in the second quater of 1926 in Guilford. His diary mentions 3276Pte. Benjamin Biggs 2nd Battalion Kings Own Regiment Field Horse. S. Africa. Cathy
