Does anyone have any accounts of events in this area, and is anyone aware of who Vaughan is, and why there's a redoubt so named.

Thanks a lot, any information gladly received

Don't have my books etc to hand so can't check this.

However, most likely "Vaughan" was an officer of the Yorkshire Regiment; some of their service battalions took the village of Contalmaison on 10th July 1916. Another local redoubt was 'Bells Redoubt' named after Capt D.S.Bell VC MC.

Perhaps someone can check an Army List for July 1916 to see if there was a Vaughan in the Yorks Regt?
