MelPack Posted 23 July , 2009 Share Posted 23 July , 2009 hello I would appreciate help from anyone that can identify the District Medal Office from which these medals were issued and the regiments that it covered. Thanks. Mel
SteveE Posted 23 July , 2009 Share Posted 23 July , 2009 Mel E/ denotes the Hounslow Record Office which was responsible for the Queens, Middlesex, East Surrey, Royal Sussex, East Kent and Royal West Kent Regiments plus the Army Cyclist Corps. MelPack Posted 23 July , 2009 Author Share Posted 23 July , 2009 Steve Many thanks for that information. Sydney is quite an interesting case. His service papers survive confirming that he is one of the 61st Division missing soldiers who happens to be commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial (there are four others). All the Cyclists were transferred to the Infantry Battalions of the Division but I guess that this is one where the service records never caught up either before or after his death.
