Terry,

Does the death certificate, then, make it absolutely certain that the 25412 Gnr Wilfred HAWKINS above ('A' Bty, 162 Bde RFA, died of pneumonia 24/10/18 aged 20) is different from CWGC's 198768 Gnr HAWKINS W G (Wilfred George per SDGW), 'A' Bty, 167 Bde RFA, "Died" 25/10/18 age 20 (but buried in Bristol) ?!

Seems a huge coincidence if so!

Also strange that a man would die of pneumonia so close to the end of the war, and presumably after quite some time in hospital, and yet have no known grave.

Adrian

P.S. Well done everyone! That's over 200 brought in now.

Adrian

MoD confirmed him to be a different man and the DC confirms death in France of pneumonia.

I have seen bigger coincidences after looking at over 1300 death certificates! Quite a few overseas DCs give a 'normal' medical condition as the cause of death but we do not know the burial location.

RIP Lads

Is there any further info on Pte JC Gould 1/4th KOYLI

I submitted a Pte Ernest Gould 6th KOYLI for consideration about 8 weeks ago just wondered if there could be a connection as we werent able to find any other family

could there be a West Yorks connection?
