206thCEF Posted 20 July , 2009 Share Posted 20 July , 2009 Julien researched the Gallipoli Campaign for 20 years and was one of the best-known military historians and battlefield experts on this subject. His first-hand and personally collected materials, including photographs and carefully constructed maps comprised a wealth of knowledge nurturing those thirsty for such information about Gallipoli. His love and respect for Gallipoli were based on protecting the historical, geographical and natural fabric of these unique battlefields. It was founded on keeping alive the memories of Turkish and Allied soldiers; every Mehmet, Digger, Tommy, Abdul and Poilu that fought on this soil. This website’s founder, content manager, researcher, photographer, designer - in short, the person responsible for everything on the website - Julien Snelders, died in July 2006. http://users.skynet.be/Gallipoli/ To access the main site, click on "Click to go to 1915".
