Chris_Baker Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 I'm not sure this is a 'war in the air' question, but we'll see. This gravestone is in Kenilworth in Warwickshire. It reads "In proud and loving memory Reginald Dennis Clive Flight Sub Lieutenant RN Son of Herbert Reginald and Lydia Emily Clive of Kenilworth : who at the age of nineteen years sacrificed his life for the life of others near Edinburgh on the tenth day of November 1917 RIP" Can anyone please shed any light on what happened? It is in East Lothian and does not have any major urban areas near it ( less in 1917) The newspapers may have some info in the November 1917 issues at the National Library. I may be there some time next month. Aye Malcolm

Susan Tall Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 Flight Sub-Lieut. Reginald Dennis Clive was killed by swerving his aeroplane to avoid some boys playing in a field when making a forced landing because of engine trouble. He was only 19 years old and had joined the Naval Air Service whilst still a student at Caius College, Cambridge. He was previously at Repton. One of the men on the Kenilworth War Memorial that I have researched. See my website at http://www.kenilworth-war-memorial.org.uk/ I'm still looking for a photo if anyone knows where I might find one. Sue
