Jock Bruce Posted 14 April , 2004 Share Posted 14 April , 2004 Two questions 1. I know IGN produce 1:25,000 mapping on CD - does anybody know if there is a UK stockist for these? 2. What's the situation with rights of way in France? Jock
Dragon Posted 14 April , 2004 Share Posted 14 April , 2004 1. I know IGN produce 1:25,000 mapping on CD - does anybody know if there is a UK stockist for these? Waterstones do, but not as cheaply as in French hypermarkets. Gwyn
burlington Posted 14 April , 2004 Share Posted 14 April , 2004 Waterstones do, but not as cheaply as in French hypermarkets. Hi Dragon Which hypermarkets please? Martin
Dragon Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 Evenin' Martin I'm tempted to say most, but that probably would mean that you'd go into one and find not a map in sight. I think most of the major hypermarket chains have maps sections in the Books department. I've definitely found that even smallish-sized Leclercs have the relevant local IGN maps, if they don't have the whole country covered. Chris_Baker Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 Many tabacs and small bokshops stock their local IGN Serie Blue too.

What's the situation with rights of way in France? Jock Hi, you could find this kind of maps 1/25000 "SERIE BLEUE" at "LE FURET" (Lille . Sue Light Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 Jock I buy all my maps [lots] direct from the IGN web site - they work out at least a third cheaper, even taking p&p into account. Dwelt on the CD-Rom recently but settled for lots of paper in the end! Maps from IGN Sue
burlington Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 The last time I tried to buy these maps direct, the French site would not sell them to the UK. May have been just a glitch but it was a pity as the prices are so much lower than in the UK
Sue Light Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 I've never had any problems at all - I've had five delivered this week, but delivery is not superfast - normally allow about 14 days. Sue
Jock Bruce Posted 15 April , 2004 Author Share Posted 15 April , 2004 OK folks - thanks for the answers re maps. Looks like buying from source is the answer. Now, what's the word on rights of way in France ? Jock
Paul Reed Posted 15 April , 2004 Share Posted 15 April , 2004 Unless a track or road is signposted 'Voie privee' (private road/track/way) you have right of access. Just take care in the shooting season, and if you venture off the track or road etc then you are on private land.
