Guest mtown Posted 18 February , 2003 Share Posted 18 February , 2003 Has anyone out there come across any reference to this soldier? His name on his service book is mispelled, it should be Alex (Alexander) Colquhoun. 2nd battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment. Number: 7573 He was husband to Ellen and Father to Alec and Margaret. The family lived in Reading. Died 9th May 1915.

Guest mtown Posted 22 March , 2003 Share Posted 22 March , 2003 Arthur, Thanks for taking the trouble to look this up. I knew about Aubers Ridge but not about Fromelles. I now have a transcript of the appendix to the war diary: 2nd battn Royal Berks Reg. for the 9th May 1915. This was written by Capt C. Nugent and covers the day from 5.00am till 7.30pm. It includes mention of the Irish Rifles, Lincolns, and Rifle Brigade. Happy to share this with anyone who needs it. margaret
