rflory Posted 17 June , 2009 Share Posted 17 June , 2009 In the Royal Artillery, officers promoted from the ranks usually were assigned to another unit, sometimes another battery in the same brigade, but in some cases, especially with those commissioned 'for services in the field' offices stayed in the same unit in which they served as ORs. In this case, since 22 Manch didn`t go to Italy till Nov 1917, I`d guess he joined them shortly after commissioning and while they were in France. PhilB Posted 20 June , 2009 Share Posted 20 June , 2009 Yes that is what is believe to be the case he went from 1st to 22nd but are still trying to confirm when .both battalions went to italy The 1st Bn didn`t go to Italy and the post above says when 22nd Bn went.
