Guest ida Posted 10 April , 2004 Share Posted 10 April , 2004 New to all this-Second attempt.Here goes.Taking my Mum to visit the Battlefields of France and Belgium at the end of April to celebrate her 80th Birthday.As a surprise I would like to take her to the places where her fathers unit fought.All I know is that my Grandfather Norman Billington was in the 3/1 East Lancs R.F.A.(This information comes from his marriage certificate July 1915.) Chris_Baker Posted 10 April , 2004 Share Posted 10 April , 2004 1st East Lancs Brigade RFA was later renumbered (roman numerals) CCX Brigade. It was part of the artillery of 42nd (East Lancs) Division. Full details of their history and movements are here. 3/1st was the reserve unit in England, supplying drafts to the Brigade.
