swizz Posted 8 June , 2009 Share Posted 8 June , 2009 Despite having a degree in Geography, map reading is not my strong point (to say the least!) I would like to know precisely where 57c. T. 19.b.3.7 is. I actually have the correct map (or at least the relevant part of it), but I don't understand how the referencing works. I know this point is between Guillemont and Ginchy, but it owuld be veru useful to know exactly where it is! I hope some kind map-reader here can help! Chris_Baker Posted 8 June , 2009 Share Posted 8 June , 2009 Find square 19. It is subdivided into 2 x 2 smaller squares. b is the top right square. b is subdivided into 10 x 10 smaller squares, but the full grid is not shown on the map, only the "ticks" along the edges of b. Count 3 ticks along from bottom left and then 7 ticks up.
swizz Posted 8 June , 2009 Author Share Posted 8 June , 2009 Chris Thanks a million - with this advice even someone as cartographically illiterate as myself can find the location I'm looking for! Swizz

swizz Posted 9 June , 2009 Author Share Posted 9 June , 2009 Yes, thank you! I am actually going to print this page out for future map-reading quandries! The location is not quite where I had thought it would be, but that is interesting in itself... Swizz
