Piglet Posted 9 April , 2004 Share Posted 9 April , 2004 Major GH Goldsmith was responsible for designing a number of cemeteries in France and Belgium after WW1 (Tonie and Valmai Holt's "Battlefield Guide to the Ypres Salient" quotes "over 60"). His best known memorial is probably the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial to the Missing of Mons, the Marne and the Aisne. I am trying to find some biographical information on him and have so far drawn a blank - CWGC, while very helpful, could give me little more than that detailed above. Does anyone have any more information on him, or a complete list of the cemeteries he designed?
