Does anyone have some information on the above flying corps man. A friend has just brought a pair of medals to him. As he has no access to research, he asked if I could help. Sadly this is not my area.

Many thanks Rowland.

I think we can narrow it down to three men:

Birth Dec 1887 (Farnham)

Burling Edward Arthur

Birth Jun 1893 (Islington)

Burling Edward Albert

Births Sep 1899 (Chelsea)

Burling Edward Alfred

What I can't understand, is why I can't find this chap on the PRO's newly released MIC database - unless he is one of the 2% that haven't been done.

I have tried searching under his surname, flying corps, number (including fuzzy searches) and can't find him.

I'm sure your spelling is correct, so this means you'll have to make a trip to Kew.

Many thanks,

I didn't realise that RFC personel had MIC.

Could I ask where did you find the 3 names? And the place in brackets is this there birth place or where they were serving?

The pair also came with a victorian VLSCG medal named to PTE.J.BURLING 15TH MIDD V.R.C.

So from this I'm guessing that the family came from around London.

Rowland.
