Christina Holstein Posted 16 February , 2003 Share Posted 16 February , 2003 Can any forum users suggest what I can read about the fighting for Fort Malmaison in October 1917? It can be either in French or in English - is there anything in English about Malmaison other than really general texts? Thanks in advance, Christina Holstein
Paul Reed Posted 16 February , 2003 Share Posted 16 February , 2003 Christina - the French official history covers this attack in detail; the Historial at Peronne has a full set. I don't know of any specific books off hand; have you checked through the Payot series?
CROONAERT Posted 16 February , 2003 Share Posted 16 February , 2003 I think that the publishers of "Armes et Militaria" and "Gazette des Uniformes" magazine (Histoire & Collections ???) did a "special" on this and the history of the battles on the Chemin des Dames a couple of years ago (in French). Christina Holstein Posted 17 February , 2003 Author Share Posted 17 February , 2003 Paul and Croonaert - Thanks for your ideas. There is a full set of the French official history at the Memorial at Verdun that I can use. I was thinking more of books such as those in the Payot series. No, I hadn't checked that but I will do. Thanks for the tip about 'Armes et militaria' and the 'Gazette des uniformes'. I'll see if I can find those as well. Christina Holstein
