CWGC added the following 'new' WW1 casualty to its Debt of Honour database today – Tuesday 19th May.

Pte Frederick John KEY

23075 Somerset Light Infantry

Died 05.06.17 Age 22

Buried: Akeley (St James) Churchyard, Bucks, UK

NOT FORGOTTEN

Pte KEY was put forward on 20.02.09 on behalf of member, June Underwood.

Thank you, Terry, for your help with submitting this.

A photo of the gravestone in Akeley churchyard can be seen on our Buckinghamshire Remembers website. We also have a photo of Frederick John Key to be added shortly.

I'm finding that quite a number of names on the Bucks War Memorials, that I haven't been able to find details of, were discharged with a Silver War Badge and died a few weeks or months later. Many times there are Pension Papers for these men which give reasons for their discharge. If these reasons are illness or injury caused by the war, it is then a matter of discovering whether the cause of death on the Death Certificate is similar to the reason for discharge.

I have at least 10 more names that I am sure should eventually qualify for inclusion.
