New CWGC Commemoration

CWGC added the following 'new' WW1 casualty to its Debt of Honour database today – Monday 18th May.

Pte Allen GARDINER

11161 3rd Bn, King’s Shropshire Light Infantry

Died 22.06.16 Age 20

Buried: Hope Mansell (St Michael) Churchyard, Herefordshire, UK

NOT FORGOTTEN

Pte GARDINER was put forward on 24.02.09 on behalf of Eric Nichols.

Eric is not a GWF member as far as I am aware, so here are the brief details….

Allen Gardiner died at his home at Dancing Green, nr. Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. He went to France May 22nd. 1915 and was discharged with Silver War Badge on April 18th. 1916. He died about 10 weeks later of Meningitis (Tubercular).
