andrew pugh Posted 6 May , 2009 Share Posted 6 May , 2009 Good Evening All.Could the I.D tags, ect, of these of these lads buried at Fromelles have been handed to the International Red Cross when they were buried by the Germans, and may be among the records which have just come to light recently at there headquarters in Switzerland? 1690philip Posted 6 May , 2009 Share Posted 6 May , 2009 Andy I would say that they might be, really depends on who buried them and who did they tell and give the disc's to bearing in mind some troops did not wear their tags but a very good question. Cliff Rumsey Posted 6 May , 2009 Share Posted 6 May , 2009 Peter Barton at WFA Petts Wood a few weeks back said that the Red Cross records were absolutely stunning. He was equally complimentary of the German regiments record keeping as well so maybe. That coupled with the DNA testing he felt that 2/3 identification was possible.
