bigronhartley Posted 8 April , 2009 Share Posted 8 April , 2009 Hello, Wondering if anyone who has access to The Suffolk Regimental Gazette could please help with a look up regarding Lt Col Edward Cyril Rands. Born in Ipswich 1893, he attended Ipswich School and was commissioned from the School Cadet Force into the 6th Battalion The Suffolk Regiment in 1909. He served in the Great War with the 4th Suffolk Regiment and the Machine Gun Corps. Following the War he continued to serve with the Territorial Army and in May, 1938 he was made Lt Col of the 4th Battalion The Suffolk Regiment. He remained Commanding Officer until his retirement in January, 1948. I believe he was connected to a local, well known family business involved in the Manufacture of Tents. In his leisure time he was a very successful Golfer. He died in the June Quarter of 1950, I would be most grateful if anyone could have a look to see if there is an obituary or any biographical information regarding his career, military service, golf etc. Thanks for your help. Regards Ron
