I discovered Arthur Rumbelow while researching the memorials of Mildenhall parish on West Row memorial but not on the CWGC fortunately his papers survived and are on Ancestry. His attestation which looks to me like it had been altered to show his age as 19 years 2 months when he would have been 17 years 2 months being born in 1897. He received gunshot/shrapnel wounds in May 1916 during his period in hospital he was found to have of tuberculosis which was shown to be one of the causes of his death. He was discharged no longer physically fit for war service on the 18th July 1916 he died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton 7th December 1918 age 21. His nephew informed me that he was living with his girlfriend and working as a bus driver in Brighton at the time of his death and that he was given a Military Funeral.

Recent research has shown that Engineer Captain Highton is buried here. The Commission is actively working to erect a headstone on his grave.

One of my cases. It has taken six years to get there, but worth it in the end.
