Terry Denham Posted 26 March , 2009 Share Posted 26 March , 2009 CWGC added the following 'new' WW1 casualty to its Debt of Honour database today – Thursday 26th March. AB William John MOSS ZP/2047 Anson Bn. RN Div, Royal Navy Died 09.11.19 Age 23 Commemoration: Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial, Surrey, UK NOT FORGOTTEN I know that AB Moss was put forward by member, horatio2, and the case is a good example of ‘perseverance pays’ as it dates from 2004! The Royal Navy gets there in the end.

horatio2 Posted 26 March , 2009 Share Posted 26 March , 2009 A sad case. He served with Anson Bn. RND in France where he was shot in the head. Invalided for "GSW temple" in 1917, he died two years later of a cerebral abcess and "old gunshot wound of skull and traumatic epilepsy". Despite the overwhelming evidence MOD(N) saw fit (after three years consideration) to reject his case in August 2007. Immediate re-submission (with a few rude words but no extra evidence) resulted in acceptance in March 2009. It would be great to find his grave - help please - see: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...p;#entry1147160 RIP William.
Will O'Brien Posted 26 March , 2009 Share Posted 26 March , 2009 Raising a glass to the memory of William. Duty done. Raising another to Horatio for ensuring the right result was reached in the end.
