lynx Posted 23 March , 2009 Share Posted 23 March , 2009 Hi Everyone Can anyone provide me with an extract from 36N.W.2 N.E.1 1916. I am looking for the area covering trenches 90-94 in the Le Touquet area. Any help is kindly appreciated. Mike
JimSmithson Posted 23 March , 2009 Share Posted 23 March , 2009 Hi Mike Not sure where the trenches are that you want. Here is a general view of around Le Touquet - if you point me a little closer I can post another. The map is 36NW2&NE1 7A 250316. All the 1916 maps I have on Linesman show no British Trenches. I'll see if I have others. Jim
lynx Posted 23 March , 2009 Author Share Posted 23 March , 2009 Hi Jim This is a great help. The area I am looking at (I believe) is around Carters Farm (covers the I in British) and the German MGH (just left of Le Touquet). Do you know when the extract you posted is dated? I am looking for something around Feb/March/April 1916. Many Thanks Mike
JimSmithson Posted 25 March , 2009 Share Posted 25 March , 2009 Mike Sorry, the mass of numbers has thrown you, the 250316 is the date of the map, i.e. 25th March 1916 so is accurate for your time frame. Now the Forum is back (Phew!) I will have a look for any other maps I have. Jim
lynx Posted 25 March , 2009 Author Share Posted 25 March , 2009 Hi Jim Many thanks for your time and effort. My great grandfarther was killed in March 1916 in trenches 90-94 hence my search for detail. Regards Mike
JimSmithson Posted 25 March , 2009 Share Posted 25 March , 2009 Mike Found a map with British trenches on to show the numbers you need. It's map 10-36NW2-x-170216 Armentieres-S (170216 is the date again) This is from Linesman so I put a flag on Carter's Farm and another on the tip of the British trenches on the road to Le Touquet and changed it to a modern 50000 Hope this helps in your research.
