Doug Lewis Posted 30 March , 2004 Share Posted 30 March , 2004 Could anyone please post a trenchmap of the above area of trenches, they were on the eastern outskirts of Bullecourt. I'm trying to piece together an action my great grandad was involved in and survived, his Btn 2/6th South Staffordshire Rgt was attacked during March 21 offensive, was overwhelmed and destroyed except for 4 officers and eighty men of which my grandad was one. A B & D companys were overwhelmed immediatly and C company were ordered to hold Railway Reserve Trench to the last. Regards Doug
CROONAERT Posted 30 March , 2004 Share Posted 30 March , 2004 Doug. Horseshoe Redoubt is near the Nr "29" and Railway Reserve follows, surprisingly ( ) the railway at the bottom of the image. Dave.

CROONAERT Posted 30 March , 2004 Share Posted 30 March , 2004 The above map dates from April 1918. The one below is a German map showing roughly the same area on 1st March 1918... Dave.
