Thanks for the information. Can anyone tell me how I can obtain further information concerning William O'Brien and Henry O'Brien online. I live in Ontario, Canada and am therefore unable to go to the record offices in England.

Unfortunately, Manchester, the only online resource (and this is work in progress) is medal index cards. There are several recent discussion threads about this project. Service papers can only be seen by personal visit to the National Archives.

As Chris mentioned above, the only way would be a visit. However you could check out the postings re "going to the PRO" and have a nice word with someone who is going.
