BarbaraF Posted 27 March , 2004 Share Posted 27 March , 2004 Can anyone help me with more information on Purser Edward George Mockridge? From the CGC site I have found that he was a Lance Corporal in the Rifle Brigade, 13th Btn. His Service No. was S/4107 and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. I believe he was my grandfather's cousin (well I am not expecting to find many men with the first name of Purser!) but any information on him from the SDGW CD might help to confirm. Also am I right in thinking he would have been killed during the Battle of the Ancre? Barbara

Bob Coulson Posted 27 March , 2004 Share Posted 27 March , 2004 Barbara, On November 14th 1916 the battalion took part in an attack on Beaucourt Trench from Railway Alley with the 1st Honourable Artillery Company on their right and 13th Royal Fusiliers on their left. This was during the Battle of the Ancre. Bob.
