paul guthrie Posted 10 February , 2003 Share Posted 10 February , 2003 Ernst Junger says in Storm of Steel British bullets had aluminum tips that acted like dum dum bullets. Isn't he wrong?
Tom Morgan Posted 10 February , 2003 Share Posted 10 February , 2003 Paul, the 1910 Mk VII round, which was the one used throughout the war, did have an aluminium tip, (well, lead/antimony/aluminium I think) with a gilding-metal outer jacket, but the presence of aluminium didn't make it act like a dum dum bullet. It was still a hard-nosed bullet.
Alan Lines Posted 10 February , 2003 Share Posted 10 February , 2003 Paul I've found plenty of German bullets that we jacketed, but like the British ones that Tom mentioned this would not mean they behaved like dum dum bullets.
