stephen p nunn Posted 2 February , 2009 Share Posted 2 February , 2009 Does anyone know if George William Howard, the skipper of HM Trawler Remindo (sunk 2/2/1918) was from Maldon, Essex? Many thanks. SPN.
Guest Posted 26 December , 2020 Share Posted 26 December , 2020 Hi, a little late replying to this but it appears that he was from Hull. Only Arthur George Wright was from Maldon (my relative). The attached might help.

horatio2 Posted 26 December , 2020 Share Posted 26 December , 2020 He was Hull District RNR but his RNR record has an incorrectly transcribed p.o.b. of "MALDAU". https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D8547526
Guest Posted 26 December , 2020 Share Posted 26 December , 2020 I am away from access to Ancestry but I suspect he should be in the database of Masters and Mates- and thus give background details from records of these groups- certificates, ships served, etc. from the Board of Trade. RNR tended to recruit professional seamen officers so it is highly likely he was pre-war Board of Trade registered.
