basiloxford Posted 29 January , 2009 Share Posted 29 January , 2009 Hello Everyone, I'm researching over 90 men who appear on a local war memorial, and I'm collecting as many of their headstones as i can. Over 50 of the men have a headstone, and I've got them all apart from 12, two of which are in Iraq. (any volunteers) The other 10 are scattered around, mostly in France, and haven't yet appeared on the War Grave Photo Project, so I'm wondering if anyone is planning to visit a few cemeteries soon, and could help me with my project. The men I'm looking for are, John Allday, Hampshire Regiment, Pernes British Cemetery, plot I. D. 31, Albert Edward Bennett, QOOH, Bailleul Communal Cemetery Ex (Nord) plot I. P. 46, Henry Bradley, Royal Berkshire Regiment, Longuenesse (St Omer) Souvenir Cemetery, Plot II. B. 2, Thomas Henry Gardner, Oxford and Bucks, Puchevillers British Cemetery, plot II. F. 43, Wilfred Hitchman, R H A, Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Plot I. B 26 John Charles Hopkins, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Ste Emille Valley Cemetery, plot I. E. 15. Thomas Charles Ingram, Bucks Battalion, OBLI, Medinghem Military Cemetery, plot IV D 22, Albert Victor Long, Kings Shropshire Lt Infantry, La Clytte Military Cemetery, plot II B 37, Edward J Read, Household Battalion, Hamburg Cemetery, Germany, plot I D 4, Albert E Wilkins, Rifle Brigade, Fins New British Cemetery, plot I. AA. 17. Any help at all would be very much appreciated, Barry.

basiloxford Posted 29 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 29 January , 2009 Hello Anthony, You've been kind enough to send me photos in the past, and yes the Fins Cemetery is the one at Sorel Le grand. I've also tried your website looking for these men, with no luck, so any you can find would be a great help. Regards, Barry.

Anthony Bagshaw Posted 30 January , 2009 Share Posted 30 January , 2009 Barry, Andrew, Consider them done (if no one else can get them before!!) Barry, you probably couldn't find them as we haven;t managed to get to the particular cemeteries to photograph them. Any more you might need that we could help with, please let us know- if you are after some that we don't have we keep them on 'record' for future trips and we have 'contacts' living in France and Belgium

basiloxford Posted 31 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 31 January , 2009 Thanks for your help Anthony, Thanks to various members of the GWF, yourself, and the War Graves Project, i have nearly all the headstones I'm looking for. It's only the few I've listed in my original post that i have left to find, and some of them i should imagine are in cemetries that don't get visited very often. Barry. Doc2 Posted 1 February , 2009 Share Posted 1 February , 2009 Barry, I went out this afternoon and got you Bennett (Bailleul), Ingram (Mendinghem), and Long (La Clytte). Took a couple extra hours for Bennett, as the CWGC has the wrong grave notation for him-- there is NO row 1P. He is actually in Row 1F. If you will PM me your email address, I can send them tomorrow. Guest Christopher H Posted 22 May , 2015 Share Posted 22 May , 2015 Hi AntonyOnly just joined but note you were looking for photo of H G Hayman's grave. He is my great uncle and was one of 5 sons fighting on different fronts during WW1. Hopefully you will receive attached photo taken on armistice day 2014. (seems file of photo too big to upload, any suggestions as new to forum?)
