MBrockway Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 My GG Uncle Thomas Edward Muckle S/15062 was killed in Glencorse Wood on 24th August 17, he was a lewis gunner with 8th Batt the Rifles (Prince Consorts Own) and was apparently 'buried where he fell'. I was in Ypres 3 weeks ago and laid a cross for him at Tyne Cot where he is on the wall. Having just found him I've no idea where to find out about the battle he died in, or regimental diaries that may be around listing him in some way. I've seen a photo but there are no standing trees in it. redave, Welcome to the rifles family here on the Forum - I think you'll find us a friendly bunch! I think you mean 8th (Service) Battalion, The Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own). The Rifles was only formed in 2007! To be honest, you would be much better off starting a completely new topic in Soldiers asking for help with Thomas Muckle of 8/RB. There is a Pal here on the Forum who is energetically researching the 8/RB, who is likely to be interested in hearing more about Rfn Muckle from his descendants. He's much more likely to spot such a request if you start afresh rather than hide it in this topic which is about the LRB (and partly the POR) not the RB, which is wholly a different regiment, albeit with links to these two London Regiment battalions. Cheers, Mark
