Help needed, Middlesex Regiment

I am trying to trace my grandfather's WW1 service. My grandfather was born in Derby but according to my brother, who is 84, he served in the Middlesex Regiment. His name is George Gervase Marshall on one certificate and George Jarvase Marshall on another. Any help welcome. JG
