John_Hartley Posted 12 June , 2016 Share Posted 12 June , 2016 It's all very well carrying the torch for these lads but once you're gone, what happens? Good question. It's all well and good if a book comes out of one's research. That's a physical legacy. But there's all the background research. And, of course, many folk display their research via websites - something gone in the blink of an eye if you don't pay your annual fee. For my part, I've got the research on the men commemorated on the borough's war memorials and my databases on 17th Manchesters and 6th Cheshires. Copies of everything I have are with the relevent regimental archives, the relevent local heritage libraries and the local family history society
