Copper6197 Posted 28 December , 2008 Share Posted 28 December , 2008 Hello, all The above name is my maternal grandmother's first husband. I have some details below, but wish to fill in some blanks if I can. Name: Hargreaves, Harold Born: Walsden, Lancs. Dec. 26, 1893 Enlisted: Todmorden, Lancs Service No. 47601 Presently I do not have any access to Ancestry.co.uk. During the free look-up in November, 08, I could not locate any service record(s) What I do know about his military service is that he was in 10th Battalion (Service) Welsh Regiment, and was serving with that battalion when he was killed in action on Aug. 04, 1917 (this from CWGC). I do know that some of the Welsh Battalions did recruit from the Lancashire area. Is there any way to find out more about this man's service? I think his service record did not survive WWII. Thanks in advance for help. George
eviltaxman Posted 28 December , 2008 Share Posted 28 December , 2008 Hi George, I don't know if you have his medal index card, but here it is. He was only entitled to the BWM/Victory Medal pair. Les
Copper6197 Posted 28 December , 2008 Author Share Posted 28 December , 2008 Hi Les; Thanks for that quick response! I had only been able to locate the download off 'Documents on Line' from the National Archives, so a colour copy is great Any more info on Lancashire lads enlisting in Welsh Regements , anyone?
