per ardua per mare per terram Posted 7 December , 2008 Share Posted 7 December , 2008 The BBC Radio4 programme Broadcasting House had a feature on Gertrude Bell this morning. It ran for about 5 minutes, 25 minutes in to the show. It is possible to listen again or listen to a podcast. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/bh/
centurion Posted 7 December , 2008 Share Posted 7 December , 2008 Some nice instances of history repeating itself (and probably worse mistakes being made the second time around?) At least in 1917 somebody had given some thought to having a post war transition.
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 9 December , 2008 Author Share Posted 9 December , 2008 Bell seemed to be more given to analysis and appreciation of the local peoples than has been apparent on recent occasions. It is a shame that there is no evidence of these letters being read by the recent administration.
