Not an expert but I can tell you that the Brigade containing the 1/7 WYR was withdrawn into billets in Escaudoeuvres on the 17th Oct

At 5.15am on the 1st Nov the 1/5 attacked from just east of Famars with the 1/7th in support. They succeeded in crossing the river and pushed on to the village of Aulnoye. A gap appeared as the 1/5 moved forward and a company of the 1/7th was moved up but didn't manage to close it. The casualty list for the 1/7th was: 5 Officers and 56 OR's killed, wounded or missing.

On the night of the 1st/2nd Nov they moved back into the neighbourhood of Maing and from there, on the 2nd, they were in villages near Lieu St Amand

Thank you Connaughtranger,

Is there any mention of the Bn being gas shelled on the 17/10/18 ?

Regards

Chris

Sorry. The history doesn't mention gas shelling on that date. They were on the west bank of the Selle on the 14th and spent much of that night trying to reconnoitre the crossing points. Relieved on the 16th then onto Escaudoeuvres on 17th
