shutt Posted 15 November , 2008 Share Posted 15 November , 2008 Do any records exist for the 54th for 1918. My gt uncle died of wounds in May 1918 and is buried at Aire Communal Cemetery in France, whose website indicates Aire was the 54th`s location at that time. I assume that he was taken to the clearing station when wounded. Wonder if any records exist for casualties processed by the unit ?.

shutt Posted 15 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 15 November , 2008 Thanks. I guess the time frame is right as my gt uncle died on 1st May 1918, so he likely was at the 54th when they were at Aire ?.
n cherry Posted 15 November , 2008 Share Posted 15 November , 2008 Biker Tom, There should be a war diary for the 54CCS at the National Archive which will give you a general view of what happened on 1st May and that period but I feel it is unlikely you will see your great uncle mentioned by name in it.....what you need to find (if it still exists) is their A&D book........
