John

On the 28th Sept the 1st West Yorks were in the assembly trenches there occpied before the attack on Lesboeufs on the 25th.(Battle of Morval).

There remained there till 3pm on the 28th, when there marched back to bivouaces arriving at 5pm, and during the concluding days of September to Meaulte and Ville-sur-Ancre.

The 6th Division was relieved by the 20th Division on the morning of the 1st October.

John i do not have the war diary but if you phone the West Yorks Museum at York (01904 642038) there will be able to help you out with a photo copy of the relevant pages (it was 10p a sheet last time).

Hope this is of help Kevin.
